The ideal candidate:

- Enthusiastic and able to work with minimal supervision in an environment with tight deadlines.
- Experience with JavaScript, XSLT, Pg/SQL, Transact-SQL and C# coding experience, including a thorough understanding object orientation
- Working experience of coding web services with XML technologies.
- Good working technical knowledge of web, mail and database servers, firewalls, routers and load balancers.
- In depth knowledge of databases (Postgres / MySQL / MSSQL).
- Working knowledge of common computer networking / Internet protocols and technologies (e.g. Ethernet, TCP/IP, SMTP, SNMP, HTTP, LDAP, BGP, OSPF, MQ, Telnet, Active Directory, Kerberos).
- Experience with many operating systems (Windows, Linux, Solaris, Cisco IOS, Data OnTap).
- Excellent knowledge of computer hardware architecture (x86, x86_64, SCSI, RAID, Cisco hardware, Network Appliance).
- Experience of managing substantial change.
- Proven ability to work under pressure.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Capability to see the wider implications of operational decisions.
- Proactive approach to improving services.
- Full driving licence.
- Educated to degree level in an IT related subject.
- ITIL v2 or v3 Foundation or Practitioner certification.
Job Description and responsibilities:
Symantec Hosted Services leverage Symantec infrastructure to deliver subscription-based services online. There's no software for customers to install and no upgrades to manage. All offerings are ‘multi-tenant', meaning a single instance of the offering is used by all customers at the same time. Symantec’s Hosted Services include Symantec Protection Network - our software-as-a-service (SaaS) platform for providing Symantec technologies to customers in the cloud as online services. DeepSight Early Warning Services provides actionable security intelligence to customers using alerts and notifications based on data feeds from the Global Intelligence Network.The Engineering development Team is specifically responsible for the provision of a consistent and reliable platform to manage, monitor and support the System Hosted Services computer systems. To design, develop and document software which enable the effective monitoring and support of Symantec Hosted Services computer systems.
In addition, the role is required to:
- Investigate new technologies, and assess the benefit of their implementation.
- Research and tutor other members of the team
- Peer review code and packages.
- Provide input into the Service Delivery Lifecycle.
