The ideal candidate:
- Benchmark throughput on different server platforms.
- Track Linux kernel development for security and performance patches.
- Develop patches for stopper bugs and application crashes.
- Maintain repository of tuned application packages.
- Participate in 24x7 on-call support escalations.

We are headquartered in San Mateo, California (Silicon Valley), with offices in New York, Los Angeles, London, Tokyo, Singapore, and Mumbai. We have an immediate opening for a Performance Engineer to join our Engineering Operations Team!
As Performance Engineer, you will help develop localized optimizations for the Linux kernel on AdMob’s applications stack. The applications span the spectrum from software load balancers, webservers, memcached, PHP engine to MySQL and Hadoop file systems. This requires an in-depth understanding of the process, memory and network stack in the Linux kernel. In addition, you will have an opportunity to contribute back to the open source community in this role.
