About the Company:

We are an exciting startup building an event discovery application for iOS and the web. Beneath an intuitive design and engaging fronted lies an app that is powered by machine learning, natural language processing, strong architecture, and the latest in server technology on the backend.

The ideal candidate:

Requirements:

• Expert knowledge of Python

• Experience with Django or another Python MVC web application framework (Pylons, TurboGears)

• A thorough understanding of relational database systems

• Comfortable developing RESTful JSON APIs

• Comfortable using version control and issue tracking to collaborate on a larger codebase

• The ability to work in rapid development cycles while still producing high-quality, maintainable code

• 3+ years building and scaling consumer-facing software projects

• BS in computer science or a related field (Masters or Ph.D preferred)

Job Description and responsibilities:

We are looking for an experienced and highly motivated engineer to join our product development team. You would be responsible for developing, maintaining, and deploying the Django back-end of our mobile application. This includes expanding the app's feature set, scaling to accommodate a growing user base, and working in continuous collaboration with the front-end developers to improve user experience. You'd have full responsibility for technical decisions regarding the back-end stack (there's no "adult supervision"), so motivation, self-reliance, and critical thinking skills are utterly essential. This is a chance to play a key role in launching and expanding an exciting new application.
